Hospital Compare Website Updates Available
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) updated the Hospital Compare website with new quality data. Programs and initiatives that were updated on the website include Hospital Outpatient Quality Reporting (OQR), Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) and Prospective Payment System (PPS)-Exempt Cancer Hospital Quality Reporting (PCHQR).
What is updated on the Hospital Compare website?
- Timely & effective care measure data
- Timely & effective care measure data
- Healthcare-associated infections (HAI) measures
- Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) Star Ratings and Survey of patient experiences data
- Measure data, including Cancer-Specific Treatment (CST) measures
- HCAHPS data
Also new is that the Department of Defense hospital performance data is on the Hospital Compare site and Veterans Administration data can now be found using the ZIP code search functionality.
What data is unchanged?
It is important to note, while there were several updates made to the Hospital Compare site, some functionalities and data remains the same including the Overall Star Rating. Other unchanged data includes:
- Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Indicators
- Patient Safety Indicators (PSI) 90 and PSI 4
- Ambulatory Surgical Center Quality Reporting (ASCQR) Program
- Excess days in acute care after hospitalization (EDAC) for heart failure and heart attack
- Hospital-Acquired Condition Reduction Program (HACRP)
- Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program (HRRP)
- Hospital Value-Based Purchasing (HVBP) Program
- Inpatient Psychiatric Facility Quality Reporting (IPFQR) Program
- Hospital OQR Program including outpatient imaging data and structural measure data
- Outpatient OP-27 and IMM-3 data
- Payment and value of care data
- Readmissions, complications, and mortality data
