L.A. Downtown Medical Center Utilizes Azalea Health EHR to Maintain Continuity of Care Amid Ongoing COVID-19 Crisis

Intuitive and highly-configurable EHR empowers better patient care management with agile, responsive and comprehensive critical care workflows.

ATLANTA (PRWEB) October 21, 2020

Azalea Health, a leading provider of cloud-based patient management and health IT solutions, announced the celebration of more than a year’s successful partnership with L.A. Downtown Medical Center (LADMC). In February 2019, LADMC selected Azalea Health as their electronic health record (EHR) to help manage acute care patient workflows across multiple departments and a diverse patient population. LADMC, a 212-bed hospital serving a culturally diverse population across two campuses in Los Angeles County, implemented the Azalea EHR platform in under five months and is leveraging the solution to manage multiple workflows, and to bridge behavioral health and LADMC’s other inpatient and outpatient services.

As the effects of COVID-19 extend beyond the immediate physical health threat, LADMC has relied on Azalea Health to help meet the sharp rise in demand for behavioral health services from patients affected by job losses, social isolation, and other challenges. LADMC is leveraging Azalea’s lightweight, highly customizable workflows to keep pace with the rapidly changing needs of patients caused by the ongoing circulation of the pandemic. LADMC and Azalea Health are also building a COVID interface so the hospital can meet state reporting requirements.

“We chose Azalea Health’s EHR over other EHR solutions because it’s easy to implement and adapt, lightweight, and straightforward to integrate with other technologies,” said LADMC executive Vicki Rollins. “We’ve been able to configure Azalea Health’s EHR for multiple workflows without complex coding changes. This flexibility is especially important as we are a nimble, growing hospital, and now with COVID-19, as we are seeing a surge in patients struggling with the physical, social, emotional, and economic repercussions of the pandemic.”

The customizable critical care templates enable LADMC clinicians to have a real-time pulse on the many unique needs of their patients, powered by integrated data visualization and reporting. The open API structure of the EHR solution enables streamlined integration and incorporation of clinical applications that, when added into the EHR, create a true system of clinical intelligence and a comprehensive view of patient care.

“We’re pleased to be able to help LADMC provide better care for their patients amid these incredibly challenging times,” said Baha Zeidan, CEO of Azalea Health. “Given the new nature of care, urban hospitals need technology that flexes and scales with surges in demand and changing needs. Only an interoperable, cloud-based EHR solution is capable of achieving that.”

Azalea’s flexible, cloud-based EHR has several modules that help a growing number of hospitals address the surges in demand and the unique new care needs of patients, including behavioral and telehealth services. Much like its behavioral health services for LADMC, Azalea has been powering modern telehealth services, which have seen accelerated adoption among providers and have helped hospitals generate new revenue streams in difficult times.
