October 1st. 2009 ICD-9 Updates

New, revised, and invalid diagnosis and procedure codes take effect Oct. 1, 2009. Among the changes, many of which pertain to new E codes, the 2010 ICD-9 code update expands code category 488 to add two new codes one of which pertains to the H1N1 Swine Flu Virus:

488.0 (Influenza due to identified avian influenza virus)
488.1 (Influenza due to identified novel H1N1 influenza virus AKA Swine Flu)
