Last chance to get your 1% Medicare incentive payment and avoid the adjustment!
It’s not too late to qualify to receive the 1% Medicare incentive payment in 2012, while at the same time avoiding the negative 1% pay adjustment. In order to do so, you will need to have adopted a qualified ePrescribing solution and have submitted at least 10 electronic prescriptions by June 30, 2011. If you have not yet implemented an electronic prescribing solution and would like to get 10 eligible prescriptions in by the end of this month, contact info@azaleahealth.com to let us know you are interested in Azalea eRx™. Let us help you avoid the adjustment!

Billing Tip: Up Front Payment Collection
Did you know that on average 15% of a medical practice’s revenues come from up front patient collections for things such as Copays and Deductibles? Is your practice’s up front collection rates lower than 15%? If so, you will want to evaluate how the front staff goes about collecting copays, deductibles, and previous balances. Did you also know that the collection rate falls to around 50% if you attempt to collect a copay or deductible amount from a patient via an invoice or patient statement? Failing to collect payments from patients at the time of service is a MAJOR issue at many medical practices. Typically, front office staff feel it is not their job to act as bill collectors or are often afraid to confront patients with outstanding balances. Additionally, patients are usually aware they have copays and outstanding balances but rely on your office staff to remind them when it’s appropriate to pay and how much. If this communication does not occur, it can cost thousands of dollars a year in lost revenue. Make sure to have regular scheduled meetings with front office staff to discuss the proper way to collect payments up front whether it be a small copay, a large deductible for an upcoming procedure, or an outstanding balance from previous visits.

Ticketing and Messaging Systems
Please do not forget the importance of utilizing our secure messaging and support ticketing systems, which are both integrated in Azalea PM™ and Azalea LabHub™. Our complete in-application, secure messaging system allows you to safely send messages between yourself and your coworkers, as well as between you and any of our staff here at Azalea Health Innovations. By using our integrated messaging system to communicate with others, this ensures that your practice is taking proper actions toward HIPAA compliance. Additionally, please remember that the most efficient and effective way to report a technical/software problem you may be experiencing is by entering a Support Ticket. All of our Azalea Health Innovations staff including the customer support department, IT Staff and the Developers are instantly notified when a Support Ticket comes through. You also have the ability to track the status of your Support Tickets. This ensures that your issues never go unnoticed and are resolved as soon as possible!
