Azalea PM™
Over this past year we have made numerous additions and upgrades to our online medical billing software, Azalea QuickBill. As most of you already know, these additions include features such as adding a library of billing and financial reports, ability to scan patient insurances cards and IDs, take and store patient photos, automated appointment reminder calls, a fully customizable patient scheduler, and much much more. Now that there are so many new features in QuickBill, our software is no longer just an online billing portal but instead a sophisticated medical billing and practice management system. Therefore, we feel that Azalea QuickBill has grown out of it’s name. After much consideration our team here at Azalea Health Innovations felt that Azalea PM™, which stands for Practice Management, is a much more appropriate name for our software. We hope that everyone will embrace the new name and enjoy all the features Azalea PM™ has to offer and the many more to come!

Billing Tip: Medicaid Georgia Fiscal Agent Transition
Effective November 1st 2010, HP Enterprises will effectively take over as Fiscal Agent for Georgia Medicaid. The previous Fiscal Agent, ACS will begin to terminate correspondence and other activities leading up to the transition date. Click here for specific cutoff dates. All current trading partner (clearinghouse) submitter numbers are automatically being transferred to HP Enterprise Services so no changes need to be made if filing claims via a clearinghouse.
There will be new a new web portal effective Nov 1st at www.mmis.georgia.gov. Each current Georgia Medicaid provider is required to set up a new web portal username and password. Each provider should have received a web portal registration letter in September with a PIN # needed to complete registration.

Meaningful Use
The office of the National Coordinator posted a set of Frequently Asked Questions to help health care providers understand and meet requirements for the meaningful use rule. The 20 questions and answers cover topics ranging from reporting clinical quality measures to certification of electronic health records (EHRs). Most of the questions address scenarios in which providers already use EHRs or modules to report data and what steps providers need to take to ensure they meet meaningful use.
In one question, a vendor asks whether it needs to seek testing and certification for an EHR module it wants to market when the complete EHR has already been certified. The answer is yes, the module also needs to be certified. A question asks whether certification is necessary for a data warehouse from which a provider wants to submit quality reporting data originating from an EHR. The answer is yes.
